AACSB Accredited Online MBA Programs With Scholarships 2026

AACSB Accredited Online MBA Programs With Scholarships in 2026–2027

An online Master of Business Administration can allow working professionals to develop advanced skills in finance, strategy, analytics, marketing, leadership and operations without leaving their careers.

But online MBA tuition varies dramatically.

One AACSB-accredited program can cost less than $20,000, while another may approach or exceed $100,000.

That makes scholarships important—but it also makes net tuition more important than the size of the scholarship advertised on a university website.

A student receiving a $10,000 scholarship toward a $75,000 MBA may still spend significantly more than someone attending a $25,000 program with no institutional scholarship.

The smartest comparison is therefore:

Total MBA tuition + mandatory fees − scholarships − employer assistance − other grants = estimated net MBA cost

Accreditation should also be checked carefully.

AACSB—the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business—maintains an official database of accredited business schools and programs. Its current directory includes fully online MBA offerings from universities such as Illinois, Arizona State, Boston University and others.

Below are several AACSB-accredited online MBA programs with scholarships, merit aid or unusually strong affordability worth comparing for 2026–2027.

Arizona State University W. P. Carey Online MBA

Scholarships Starting at $10,000 for Qualified MBA Applicants

Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business currently offers one of the clearest scholarship opportunities specifically connected to an online MBA.

The W. P. Carey Online MBA is:

  • 100% online
  • AACSB accredited
  • Designed for working professionals
  • Typically completed in 24–36 months
  • Available with multiple annual starting dates
  • No GMAT or GRE required for admission

ASU's current Online MBA page advertises competitive scholarships starting at $10,000 for qualified MBA applicants.

That is significant because many business schools reserve their largest merit scholarships for full-time residential MBA students.

ASU Online MBA Tuition

ASU currently estimates total tuition and fees at approximately:

$74,000

for:

  • Arizona residents
  • Nonresidents
  • International online students

The university also requires a $1,000 enrollment deposit that is applied according to its enrollment policies.

If a student received a $10,000 scholarship, a simplified estimate would become:

$74,000 − $10,000 = $64,000

before any employer tuition assistance or other benefits.

Larger Scholarships Through Employer Partnerships

ASU also offers graduate academic partnerships with employers.

W. P. Carey states that partnership benefits can include expanded scholarship opportunities ranging from:

$2,000 to $25,000

depending on the arrangement. These benefits may also be combined with qualifying employer-paid tuition assistance.

For ASU employees and eligible family members, a separate AdvantEDGE program currently lists a $12,500 scholarship for the Evening or Online MBA, combined with qualifying tuition-reduction benefits.

AACSB Accreditation

AACSB's official directory lists Arizona State University as AACSB accredited and identifies fully online MBA delivery among W. P. Carey's graduate offerings.

Best for: Working professionals seeking a well-established online MBA with meaningful merit-scholarship potential.

Published estimated cost: Approximately $74,000.

Scholarship highlight: Competitive awards starting at $10,000 for qualified applicants.

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Gies iMBA

Approximately $27,000 Total Tuition for 2026–2027

The University of Illinois Gies College of Business iMBA takes a different approach.

Instead of charging traditional premium MBA tuition and then reducing it heavily through scholarships, Gies prices its online MBA relatively low from the beginning.

For the 2026–2027 academic year, Gies currently lists estimated iMBA tuition of:

$27,000

at approximately:

$375 per credit

plus a separate $4-per-credit online student fee.

Gies describes the program as “mission-priced” rather than discounted and notes that the iMBA remains around $27,000 despite being offered by an AACSB-accredited business school.

Gies Online MBA Scholarships

Low tuition does not mean scholarships are unavailable.

Gies Online Programs currently provides limited competitive admissions scholarships.

Students must complete the applicable scholarship application by the published deadline, and recipients must maintain the academic and program requirements specified in their scholarship offer.

Gies also confirms that iMBA applicants may have access to scholarship opportunities such as the Coursera scholarship and Forté Fellowship, subject to the applicable admission and scholarship cycle.

AACSB Accreditation

AACSB's current directory lists the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign as AACSB accredited and identifies its iMBA as fully online.

Why Gies Can Be Cheaper Even Without a Large Scholarship

Consider:

ASU tuition: approximately $74,000
Possible $10,000 scholarship: approximately $64,000 remaining

versus:

Gies iMBA tuition: approximately $27,000 before scholarship assistance.

That means the lower-priced program can remain tens of thousands of dollars cheaper even before receiving a major scholarship.

Best for: Professionals prioritizing AACSB accreditation and low total tuition.

2026–2027 tuition: Approximately $27,000 plus the current online student fee.

Scholarships: Limited competitive admissions scholarships and other qualifying awards.

University of Illinois Chicago Online MBA

Merit Scholarships and Even Limited Full-Tuition Waivers

The University of Illinois Chicago is another particularly interesting option because its graduate business school explicitly offers merit aid.

UIC Business states that graduate applicants are considered for merit-aid opportunities after admission, with no separate application required for general consideration.

Award amounts vary, and UIC states that a limited number of Liautaud Graduate School Scholar full-tuition waivers are available, including partial fee waivers.

That makes UIC worth investigating for high-performing online MBA applicants.

GMAT or GRE May Help With Scholarship Funding

UIC's online programs are test optional.

However, the university specifically states that GMAT or GRE scores may be used for scholarship purposes.

This creates an important strategy for applicants:

If your GMAT or GRE score is strong, submitting it could potentially improve the financial side of your application even when the test itself is not required for admission.

UIC Online MBA Cost

AACSB's current school directory lists UIC's fully online MBA at approximately:

$35,994

in its published program data.

Applicants should request an updated cohort-specific tuition quote because university charges may change between academic years.

Current Application Dates

UIC currently lists:

Fall B 2026 Online MBA deadline: October 1, 2026

Spring 2027 online-program deadline: December 1, 2026

with later Spring B and Summer 2027 entry options also available.

Best for: Strong applicants who want an AACSB-accredited online MBA and the possibility of significant merit aid.

Scholarship highlight: Merit scholarships and a limited number of full-tuition waivers.

University of Illinois Springfield Online MBA

AACSB-Accredited MBA for $16,740

The University of Illinois Springfield provides an important reminder that low tuition can outperform a scholarship.

UIS currently lists total tuition for its 100% online MBA at:

$16,740

for:

30 credit hours

with completion possible in as few as:

12 months.

The program is AACSB accredited.

AACSB's own directory also identifies the University of Illinois Springfield as an AACSB-accredited institution with a fully online MBA.

Current 2026 Enrollment Opportunity

UIS currently lists:

Apply by: September 28, 2026

Classes begin: October 19, 2026.

Specialized MBA Options

The same online MBA structure is available with certificate-focused options including:

  • Marketing
  • Healthcare Analytics
  • Healthcare Management
  • Accounting Data Analytics
  • Cybersecurity Management
  • Cybersecurity Administration
  • Business Process Management
  • Operations and Supply Chain Management
  • Human Resource Management
  • Applied Finance

The current listed tuition remains approximately $16,740 for many of these 30-credit options.

Why UIS Belongs in a Scholarship Comparison

Suppose University A charges:

$60,000

and gives you a:

$20,000 scholarship

Your remaining tuition is:

$40,000

UIS at approximately $16,740 would still cost:

$23,260 less

before considering any other funding.

So while prospective students should ask UIS about current university, employer and external scholarship eligibility, its strongest financial advantage is currently its low base tuition.

Best for: Students prioritizing one of the lowest published AACSB-accredited online MBA tuition totals.

Total tuition: Approximately $16,740.

Boston University Questrom Online MBA

$25,000 Total Tuition

Boston University's Questrom School of Business provides another useful example of low tuition replacing the need for a large institutional scholarship.

The current Questrom Online MBA costs:

$4,167 per module

for six modules, producing total tuition of approximately:

$25,000.

The program requires:

  • 45 credits
  • Six integrated modules
  • Approximately two years
  • 100% online study

AACSB's directory lists Boston University as AACSB accredited and confirms the fully online MBA with a $25,000 listed total cost.

Important Scholarship Limitation

Applicants need to understand an important distinction.

Boston University explicitly states that Questrom institutional merit scholarships are not available to Online MBA students. Merit scholarships are reserved for eligible residential-program candidates.

However, online MBA students can pursue:

  • External/private scholarships
  • Employer assistance
  • Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans if eligible
  • Payment plans

Boston University specifically directs online students toward external scholarship resources.

Why BU Is Still Financially Competitive

A $25,000 MBA without a university scholarship can be cheaper than a $70,000 MBA after receiving a $20,000 scholarship.

For cost-conscious professionals, this distinction is extremely important.

Best for: Professionals who value the Boston University credential and want predictable low tuition without relying on competitive institutional scholarships.

Total tuition: Approximately $25,000.

Institutional merit scholarships: Not available to Online MBA students.

External scholarships: Permitted and encouraged.

Rice University MBA@Rice Online MBA

A Premium-Priced AACSB Option With Scholarship Funding Infrastructure

Rice University's Jones Graduate School of Business is AACSB accredited and operates an online MBA format. AACSB's directory confirms that Rice offers fully online graduate business delivery.

The MBA@Rice program combines:

  • Online classes
  • Asynchronous coursework
  • Live sessions
  • A required Houston residential experience
  • A Global Field Experience
  • 54 credits
  • Typical completion in approximately two years

Rice also offers a more flexible three-year track.

MBA@Rice Scholarship Fund

Rice has established a dedicated MBA@Rice Scholarship Fund created by online MBA alumni to support future online MBA students.

The fund began with approximately $50,000 in contributions and was designed to build ongoing tuition assistance for MBA@Rice students. Prospective students seeking funding are instructed to contact Rice Business Recruiting and Admissions directly.

This should not be confused with the much more extensive automatic scholarship structure Rice advertises for its Full-Time MBA.

Rice's largest advertised merit scholarships and its 96% scholarship participation figure apply specifically to Full-Time MBA students, not automatically to MBA@Rice participants.

Applicants should therefore ask Rice directly:

“What scholarship funding is currently available specifically to the Online MBA cohort I am applying for?”

High Tuition Makes Net-Cost Analysis Essential

Rice's published online MBA tuition page lists a 54-credit program total of approximately $109,930, although students should obtain an updated 2026–2027 quote because tuition is subject to annual changes.

At this price level, even a substantial scholarship can leave a much higher net price than lower-cost AACSB programs.

Best for: Professionals prioritizing Rice Business and willing to pay a premium for its online MBA experience and network.

What Does AACSB Accreditation Actually Mean?

AACSB accreditation is a specialized form of business-school accreditation.

AACSB states that accredited institutions meet its quality standards and commit to maintaining and advancing educational quality. Its directory currently includes more than 1,000 accredited institutions globally.

For MBA applicants, AACSB accreditation can provide an additional signal regarding:

  • Faculty qualifications
  • Curriculum quality
  • Academic processes
  • Strategic management
  • Assurance of learning
  • Business-school resources
  • Continuous improvement

However, AACSB accreditation is not the same thing as institutional accreditation.

A student should ideally verify both:

Institutional accreditation of the university

and:

AACSB accreditation of the business school.

How to Verify AACSB Accreditation Yourself

Do not trust a random ranking website or scholarship article.

Use AACSB's official accredited-school database.

Search for the university and verify:

  • Business accreditation status
  • Degree level
  • Online delivery
  • Current program listing

For example, AACSB's official records confirm:

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign: AACSB accredited with fully online graduate programs.

Arizona State University: AACSB accredited with an Online MBA.

Boston University: AACSB accredited with a fully online MBA.

Rice University: AACSB accredited with fully online business-program delivery.

This direct verification takes only a few minutes and can prevent expensive mistakes.

Scholarships vs. Low Tuition: Which Is Better?

Scholarship marketing can distort MBA comparisons.

Consider three hypothetical programs.

Program A

Tuition: $90,000
Scholarship: $25,000

Net tuition: $65,000

Program B

Tuition: $50,000
Scholarship: $10,000

Net tuition: $40,000

Program C

Tuition: $25,000
Scholarship: $0

Net tuition: $25,000

Program C has the smallest scholarship.

It is also the cheapest by:

$15,000 compared with Program B

and:

$40,000 compared with Program A.

That is why the best MBA search combines:

How to Increase Your Chances of an Online MBA Scholarship

Apply Early

Scholarship budgets are limited.

Applying during an early admission round can sometimes provide access to a larger remaining scholarship pool.

Submit a Strong GMAT or GRE Even When Optional

UIC is an excellent example.

Its online programs are test optional, but the university explicitly states that scores may contribute to scholarship consideration.

If you can obtain a competitive score, submitting it may strengthen your financial-aid profile.

Demonstrate Leadership

ASU states that scholarship decisions can consider areas such as:

  • Academic performance
  • Leadership activities
  • Community involvement
  • Future goals

Your résumé should therefore quantify leadership whenever possible.

Instead of:

“Managed marketing team.”

Use:

“Managed an eight-person marketing team responsible for a $2.4 million annual campaign portfolio and increased qualified leads by 31%.”

Concrete impact strengthens both admissions and scholarship applications.

Show Career Progression

MBA admissions committees typically want evidence that applicants can use graduate business education effectively.

Demonstrate:

  • Promotions
  • Increased responsibility
  • Revenue responsibility
  • Budget ownership
  • Team leadership
  • International exposure
  • Strategic decision-making

Explain Why the MBA Creates ROI

A strong scholarship essay should connect the program to a realistic career outcome.

Instead of:

“I want an MBA because it will improve my career.”

Explain precisely how the curriculum helps you move from your present role to your target role.

Employer Tuition Assistance Can Be Worth More Than a Scholarship

Working professionals have a major funding advantage that full-time students may not have:

Their employer.

Under current IRS rules for 2026, qualifying employer educational-assistance programs can provide up to:

$5,250 per employee per year

in tax-free educational assistance.

Suppose you complete an online MBA over three calendar years and your employer provides the full qualifying amount each year:

$5,250 × 3 = $15,750

That could cover a substantial percentage of an affordable online MBA.

For a program costing approximately $27,000:

$27,000 − $15,750 = $11,250

remaining in this simplified example.

This is why employer benefits should be investigated before applying for private loans.

Questions to Ask Your Employer

Do not simply ask:

“Do we offer tuition reimbursement?”

Ask specifically about:

  • MBA tuition reimbursement
  • Annual education allowance
  • Graduate-degree sponsorship
  • Business-school partnerships
  • Leadership-development funding
  • Direct university billing
  • Reimbursement after grades are earned
  • Minimum employment commitment
  • Repayment obligations after leaving the company

Some employers reimburse tuition only when an employee earns a specific grade.

Others may require the employee to remain with the organization for one or two years after receiving education benefits.

ASU Employer Partnerships Can Add Scholarships

ASU provides a particularly interesting example of combining university and employer funding.

Its W. P. Carey graduate academic partnerships can provide scholarship opportunities ranging from $2,000 to $25,000, and W. P. Carey states that these benefits can be combined with employer-paid tuition assistance where applicable.

This means a working professional should ask two separate questions:

What will my employer reimburse?

and:

Does my employer have a university partnership that gives me an additional scholarship?

Those are two different sources of savings.

Important Federal Financial Aid Change for MBA Students in 2026

MBA students beginning school in late 2026 should be careful with older financial-aid guides.

A major federal change took effect on:

July 1, 2026.

Federal Student Aid states that Direct PLUS Loans are no longer generally available to graduate or professional students unless the borrower qualifies under a limited transition exception.

To qualify for that limited exception, a student generally must have:

  • Been enrolled in the same program by June 30, 2026
  • Borrowed a Direct Loan for that program before July 1, 2026
  • Remained continuously enrolled in that program

For graduate students who have never been professional students, Federal Student Aid currently lists a Direct Unsubsidized Loan limit of:

$20,500 per year

with a:

$100,000 aggregate graduate limit.

For MBA students considering expensive programs, this change makes scholarships, employer benefits and lower tuition significantly more important.

Why This Federal Change Makes Affordable Online MBAs More Attractive

Consider an MBA costing:

$120,000

A new graduate borrower may no longer simply assume Grad PLUS financing can fill the entire gap.

Compare that with:

UIS: approximately $16,740

BU Questrom: approximately $25,000

Illinois Gies iMBA: approximately $27,000

At those tuition levels, employer assistance plus regular graduate borrowing can potentially cover a much larger percentage of total tuition without requiring six-figure private debt.

This changes the financial calculation for online MBA shoppers in 2026.

Can International Students Get Online MBA Scholarships?

Yes, depending on the university.

But international applicants should distinguish between:

Merit scholarships

and:

U.S. federal financial aid.

Most international students are not eligible for U.S. federal student loans unless they qualify as eligible noncitizens.

They should concentrate on:

  • University merit scholarships
  • Employer sponsorship
  • Corporate partnerships
  • Private scholarships
  • Home-country education funding
  • International education loans
  • Personal payment plans

ASU's published Online MBA tuition is currently the same estimated $74,000 for residents, nonresidents and international online students, while scholarship opportunities remain competitive.

Gies is particularly interesting internationally because its roughly $27,000 tuition provides a comparatively low starting price even before scholarship support.

Should You Choose the Cheapest AACSB Online MBA?

Not necessarily.

Cost is important, but it should not be the only criterion.

Consider:

Career Services

Does the online MBA provide:

  • Career coaching
  • Resume support
  • Interview preparation
  • Employer networking
  • Alumni access?

ASU specifically states that online students receive dedicated career coaching through W. P. Carey Career Services.

Curriculum

The cheapest MBA may not offer the specialization you need.

Alumni Network

A strong alumni network can become valuable for career changes, recruiting and entrepreneurship.

Employer Recognition

Ask how your employer or target industry views the university.

Delivery Format

Some online MBAs are asynchronous.

Others require live classes.

Some include optional immersions.

Others require travel.

Choose the structure that fits your work schedule.

Final Thoughts

Finding the best AACSB Accredited Online MBA Programs With Scholarships requires looking beyond scholarship headlines.

For applicants who want a substantial clearly advertised scholarship, Arizona State University's W. P. Carey Online MBA stands out because qualified MBA applicants can currently compete for scholarships starting at $10,000. Employer partnerships may produce even larger scholarship opportunities in some circumstances.

For applicants focused on affordability, however, University of Illinois Springfield may be even more compelling at approximately $16,740 in total tuition.

Boston University's Questrom Online MBA is another strong price benchmark at approximately $25,000, although BU clearly states that its institutional merit scholarships do not extend to Online MBA students.

The Illinois Gies iMBA combines approximately $27,000 in 2026–2027 tuition with limited competitive online scholarships, while UIC offers a particularly interesting merit-aid structure because admitted graduate business applicants can be considered for scholarships and even a limited number of full-tuition waivers.

For working professionals, employer assistance can change the equation again. A qualifying employer may provide up to $5,250 in tax-free educational assistance during 2026, potentially covering a significant percentage of a lower-cost online MBA.

And with federal graduate financing having changed on July 1, 2026, lower tuition has become even more valuable. New graduate borrowers can no longer generally rely on Grad PLUS loans outside limited transition exceptions.

The strongest strategy is therefore:

Verify AACSB accreditation → calculate total tuition → identify scholarship eligibility → ask about employer reimbursement → subtract all confirmed funding → compare the final net MBA price.

The university advertising the largest scholarship may not win that comparison.

A lower-cost AACSB-accredited MBA combined with employer tuition assistance can sometimes save tens of thousands of dollars compared with a premium MBA offering a much larger headline scholarship.

Tuition, scholarships, accreditation status, financial-aid rules, employer benefits and admission deadlines can change. Verify current information directly with AACSB, the university, Federal Student Aid and your employer before applying or making a financial commitment.
